Missing favicon on WordPress

No favicon is defined on your site. Browser tabs and bookmarks display a generic icon.

Why it matters

The favicon is an important brand signal. Google has displayed it in mobile results since 2019. Its absence harms recognition and trust.

How to fix

  1. 1

    Via the WordPress Customizer (recommended)

Appearance → Customize → Site Identity → Site Icon image. Upload a square image of at least 512×512px. WordPress automatically generates the different sizes.

  2. 2

    Recommended formats

Prepare a square PNG image of 512×512px. WordPress automatically generates favicon.ico, apple-touch-icon and Android sizes. If you have an SVG, it is ideal for modern browsers.
